چکیده

In this paper, a novel universal receiver baseband approach is introduced. The chain includes a postmixer noise shaping blocker pre-filter, a programmable-gain post mixer amplifier (PMA) with blocker suppression, a differential ramp-based novel linear-in-dB variable gain amplifier and a Sallen–Key output buffer. The 1.2-V chain is implemented in a 65-nm CMOS process, occupying a die area of 0.45 mm. The total power consumption of the baseband chain is 11.5 mW. The device can be tuned across a bandwidth of 700-KHz to 5.2-MHz with 20 kHz resolution and is tested for two distinct mobile-TV applications; integrated services digital broadcasting-terrestrial ISDB-T (3-segment fc = 700 kHz) and digital video broadcastingterrestrial/handheld (DVB-T/H fc = 3.8 MHz). The measured IIP3 of the whole chain for the adjacent blocker channel is 24.2 and 24 dBm for the ISDB-T and DVB-T/H modes, respectively. The measured input-referred noise density is 10.5 nV/sqrtHz in DVB-T/H mode and 14.5 nV/ sqrtHz in ISDB-T mode.

A Very Low Voltage 9th Order Linear Phase Baseband Switched Capacitor Filter (RESEARCH NOTE)

A very low voltage 9th order linear phase baseband switched capacitor (SC) filter has been designed to be used as part of a cellular GSM (Global System Mobile) receiver. A Gaussian-to-6dB filter of the order of seven is chosen and a second order function is added to reduce the group delay variations around. The filter uses a fully differential topology to increase the dynamic range and reduce t...

A New Analog-based LO Harmonic Rejection Technique with Tunable Notch Frequency

An effective technique for mixer LO harmonic rejection in a SAW-less wideband receiver front-end is proposed. The proposed technique provides a tunable notch that can be placed at any frequency like mixer LO harmonics, to avoid the aliasing in baseband after mixing. An analog LC notch is used in a cascode transconductor, and it can reject one of the 3rd or 5th harmonics. T...

Design of a Very Low-power, Low-cost 60 GHz Receiver Front-End Implemented in 65 nm CMOS Technology

The research on the design of receiver front-ends for very high data-rate communication in the 60 GHz band in nanoscale CMOS technologies is going on for some time now. While a multitude of 60 GHz front-ends have been published in recent years, they are not consequently optimized for low power consumption. Thus, these front-ends dissipate too much power for battery-powered applications like han...

A 1.2-V RF Front-End With On-Chip VCO for PCS 1900 Direct Conversion Receiver in 0.13- m CMOS

In this paper, a 1.2-V RF front-end realized for the personal communications services (PCS) direct conversion receiver is presented. The RF front-end comprises a low-noise amplifier (LNA), quadrature mixers, and active RC low-pass filters with gain control. Quadrature local oscillator (LO) signals are generated on chip by a double-frequency voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) and frequency divi...
